Rellenong Pusit

Rellenong Pusit is an easy recipe.It is also known as stuffed squid.


1 kg. fresh squid, ink sac removed
100g. pork fat
2/3 cups singkamas, diced
2/3 cup carrot, chopped
1 red bell pepper, chopped
4 segments garlic cloves, crushed
1 onion, chopped
1 Tbsp. powdered milk(optional)
1/4 tsp. pepper
1 1/2 tsp. salt
2 Tbsp. oil

Squid Marinade
1 Tbsp. calamansi/lime juice
2 Tbsp. soy sauce
1 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. pepper

Sauce:
8 oz. can tomato sauce
2 cups broth
1 onion chopped
4 segment garlic, crushed
1 tsp. soy sauce
1/2 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar
2 tsp. flour
2 Tbsp. banana ketchup
1 carrot cut into desired shape
1 stalk celery, sliced
2 Tbsp. oil

Marinade squid for at least 2 hours. chop up the head and set aside.

Brown pork fat in hot carajay. saute garlic, onions and chopped up squid heads.

Add sinkamas, carrots, bell peppers and two tablespoons of tomato sauce. Season.

Add powdered milk. Cook until almost dry.

fill each squid with 2 tablespoons of this mixture. Secure with toothpick if necessary. Set Aside

saute Garlic and onions. Add pusit, tomato sauce and meat broth.

season and simmer for 10 minutes.

add carrots, celery and banana ketchup.

thicken sauce with flour

simmer for another 10 minutes.

serve hot, enjoy

Tahong Fritters w/ Dip

Tahong is oyster. A fritter is any kind of food coated in batter and deep fried.. It's soooo common here.. Filipino love to eat those kind of food. you might think this filipino recipe is weird but it's actually good and super easy to make.

1 kilo oysters, steamed open and shucked
1 1/2 cups corn starch
1/4 cups flour
1 cup carrots, cut into strips
2 Tbsp. Kinchay, chopped
1/2 tsp. black pepper
1 tsp. baking powder
1 cup oyster broth
2 Tbsp. atsuete juice
3/4 cup. cooking oil (for frying)

Dip:
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1 Tbsp. vinegar
1/4 cup banana ketchup
1~2 tsp. hot chili sauce
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. sugar

Marinade:
2 Tbsp. soy sauce
1/4 tsp. black pepper

Marinade oyster meat for 1 hour.

In a bowl combine all the ingredients (except for the dip)

fry by tablespoonful until golden brown.

serve hot w/ dip

Dip:
In a bowl, mix thoroughly the ingredients

Corn Bread

An easy basic Corn bread recipe made from scratch.

Corn Bread
1 cup corn meal
1 cup all purpose flour
1/3 cup sugar
1 Tbsp. salt
1 cup milk
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1 large egg, beaten

pre heat oven 400F (204.44C)

mix all dry ingredients in a medium bowl

in a small bowl mix all liquid ingredients

mix dry and wet ingredients and put it in a greased pan

bake for 20~25mins, check by toothpick or knife if it comes out clean

Homemade Pork and beans

This Filipino style recipe makes beans the old fashion way. It's easier than you think.

1/2 kilo raw kidney beans
1/4 kilo pork loin, sliced
5 segments garlic, crushed
1 onion, chopped
2 pcs. hotdog, sliced
8 oz. tomato sauce
3/4 cup banana ketchup
1/4 cup white sugar
1 1/2 Tbsp. soy sauce
1 Tbsp. hot sauce
1 Tbsp. salt
4 cups meat broth
1/4 cup oil

soak beans in water overnight

boil beans in five cup of water until soft but firm. drain set aside

brown pork lightly in oil.

Add garlic, onions and hotdogs.

Add tomato sauce, ketchup, hot sauce and soy sauce. stir

Add kidney beans. seasoned with salt and sugar.

Add meat broth and simmer for 25 mins or until beans are tender

serve hot
