Sweet New Year Cake

The Filipinos has been very much influenced by it's neighboring and previous occupations, This recipe comes from China. We usually call this "tikoy" but you might know this recipe as "Nian gao". Sometimes we eat this by slicing a piece and dipping it in egg and frying it. From a tough consistency it becomes soft but I personally like it as is.
6 cups. glutinous rice powder
2 cups. sugar
2 cups. boiling water

mix sugar and water until sugar is dissolved

add rice powder, mix well, you should have a consistency of rice paste

in a steamer put a heavy duty cellophane at the bottom, pour rice mixture into steamer

steam for 2 hours

remove cellophane and let it cool (be careful it's hot)
