Glutinous Rice Cake

This is an old Chinese recipe. locally here we call this "tikoy" but this is commonly called "nian gao", It's unbelievably easy to make. It's not a Filipino food recipe.

Glutinous Rice Cake

3 cups Glutinous Rice
1 1/2 cups water
4 tbspn. rice wine
1 1/2 cups sugar

wash rice until runs clear, drain

add 2 cups of water and let it sit for 1 hour, drain

add the 1 1/2 cup water and rice wine

steam in electric steamer for 20mins*

let it cool for 20 mins

then add sugar

steam again for 5 more minutes until sugar melts

in a 8x8x1 cookie sheet put a heavy duty cellophane then add oil

put rice in cookie sheet then let it cool

cut and serve
